Mhatre was one of the star performers in Chennai’s clash against the Capitals. He smashed 59 runs off 36 balls before retiring out. His 113-run partnership off 68 balls with Sanju Samson, who slammed his four IPL century, paved the way for the Men in Yellow to amass 212/2 in their 20 overs.
During his stellar knock, Mhatre belted three fours and four sixes. On the other hand, Rahul failed to live up to his expectations. He did get off to a flying start, scoring 18 off 10 balls. However, his innings was ended by Khaleel Ahmed, who had him caught by Jamie Overton at mid-wicket in the fifth over.
The Capitals were eventually bowled out for 189, as Chennai registered their first win of their campaign in IPL 2026 after losing three games in a row.
