Malayalam actor Basil Joseph once again left fans amazed with his prediction skills after accurately foreseeing a six from his close friend Sanju Samson during the IPL 2026 clash between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, May 18.

SRH defeated CSK by five wickets with six balls remaining, but one of the biggest talking points from the night came off the field. Basil, who was present in the stands alongside Riya Shibu and the Athiradi team, was seen making a stunning prediction moments before Samson smashed a six into the stands.

A now-viral video circulating on social media shows Basil enthusiastically saying, ‘Six adika poran, six adika poran’, (He’s going to hit a six) while watching the game from the upper stands. Shibu responded with a thumbs-up, and seconds later Samson launched the ball over the ropes exactly as predicted. The Athiradi team immediately erupted in celebration with cheers, hugs, and high-fives after Basil’s prediction came true.

This is not the first time Basil’s cricket predictions have grabbed attention online. Earlier, during India’s T20 World Cup final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, the actor had similarly predicted a six from Samson, a moment that also went viral among cricket fans.

Talking about the game, Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bat first on a dry Chepauk wicket. Samson gave CSK a blistering start with 27 runs off 13 deliveries, while Urvil Patel played a brief cameo. Gaikwad struggled to accelerate and managed only 15 off 21 balls before being dismissed.

CSK’s innings later gained momentum through Kartik Sharma’s quickfire 32 and a superb knock from Dewald Brevis, who smashed 44 off just 27 balls to guide the five-time champions to 180/7.

During the chase, SRH lost Travis Head early, but Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan rebuilt the innings steadily. The game eventually tilted decisively in SRH’s favour thanks to a match-winning 75-run partnership between Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen.

After Klaasen’s dismissal, Kishan continued to anchor the chase before Smaran Ravichandran struck the winning boundary off Anshul Kamboj on the final ball of the 19th over, sealing victory for SRH and also confirming a playoff berth for the Gujarat Titans.
