The Mumbai Indians are looking to lift their sixth IPL trophy as they head into the 2026 season. After a slow start to the season, a late comeback saw them make the playoffs before crashing out in Qualifier 2 against the Punjab Kings in the 2025 season.

Ahead of the start of the 2026 season, Mumbai Indians team owner Nita Ambani was seen visiting the Wankhede Stadium where the team was training, meeting all the players and staff who were present at the ground.

She was shocked seeing at the former Indian captain Rohit Sharma‘s fitness, exclaiming that she was unable to recognise him.

“My God Rohit, I didn’t recognise you. You look like a young boy,” Nita Ambani said, in a video posted by the Mumbai Indians.

Rohit has retired from T20Is and Tests, now representing India only in the ODI format. He has worked extremely hard on his fitness and the results are showing ahead of the 2026 season. Mumbai Indians will be hoping for a brilliant season from the ‘Hitman’, who is slated to once again open the batting and make a mark in the IPL. With 7,046 runs, he is only behind Virat Kohli in most runs scored in the IPL.

The video also shows Nita Ambani referring to Mumbai Indians legend and batting coach Keiron Pollard as “Polly Kaka”, an endearing term of affection used in the local tongue.

Mumbai Indians start their season on March 29 against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium.
