India head coach Gautam Gambhir got involved in a war of words with KIA Oval pitch curator Lee Fortis a couple of days ago. On the eve of the fifth and final Test match between India and England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, there was a new episode involving the duo, but this time, things were not as unpleasant.

As the Indian team management, along with captain Shubman Gill, were having a discussion near the square, Fortis made his way towards them. He said something to Gill, even as Gambhir didn’t turn around to pay attention. It was almost as if Gambhir gave a cold shoulder to Fortis. The former India batter walked past the curator without looking at him.

Take a look at the video below:

Earlier, on Tuesday, July 29, Gambhir was involved in a heated altercation with Fortis during India’s training session. Reports stated that Fortis had asked the Indian team not to be within 2.5 meters of the main square. Later, India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, who turned pacifier during the argument, defended the team’s conduct, noting they wore joggers, not spikes, and took care not to cause any harm to the surface.

India are 1-2 down in the five-match series. The Men in Blue suffered defeats at Headingley and Lord’s, but emerged victorious at Edgbaston. In the fourth Test, they showcased commendable resilience to salvage a draw after batting for more than five sessions. The series is placed on a knife-edge, with all to play for heading into the final Test match, which begins on Thursday, July 31.

England have made four changes to their lineup, with Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Liam Dawson, and Brydon Carse missing out. Meanwhile, India will be without the services of Rishabh Pant. Jasprit Bumrah might not play this Test as the management is keen to manage his workload.
