WATCH: Asia Cup 2025: Jasprit Bumrah bowls left-arm spin in practice session ahead of Sri Lanka clash

India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 dead rubber against Sri Lanka in Dubai, was seen bowling left-arm spin in the nets, imitating Ravindra Jadeja’s action. Under the eyes of batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, Bumrah rolled his arm over before switching back to his usual pace with a shorter run-up.

Meanwhile, India has already sealed their spot in the final against Pakistan, scheduled for September 28. Having played four games in the tournament, Bumrah’s workload has been carefully managed. He was rested against Oman and has bagged five wickets in four innings at an average of 22 and an economy of 7.33. His best performance came against Bangladesh, where he finished with figures of 2/18 to guide India to a 41-run victory.

Despite a rare off day against Pakistan in the Super 4s, Bumrah has looked lethal with the new ball. Meanwhile, ahead of the Sri Lanka game on Friday, he displayed his spin bowling abilities with his left arm. Notably, this is not the first time he has performed this act; on numerous occasions, he has turned a spinner in the nets.

Bumrah picked for West Indies Tests

Recently, the pacer gave a witty response to former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif, who had suggested that under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, Bumrah was avoiding death overs to protect himself from injury. The pacer dismissed those claims and replied, “Inaccurate before inaccurate again.”

Meanwhile, the selectors showed their faith in the 31-year-old by including him in India’s squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies, starting October 2 in Ahmedabad. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar stressed that Bumrah is fully fit and well-rested after a month-long break following the England Tests.

“He’s available for both the Test matches. We’ve had a fair break after England. In fact, he didn’t play the fifth Test either. So there’s been a bit of a month or five weeks of break and even this tournament has been fairly spaced out till this last week. So, no, he’s ready and keen to play both Test matches,” Ajit Agarkar said as quoted by TOI.

The 31-year-old’s return to full fitness has been a major positive for India. After missing a chunk of cricket last year due to a back injury, his workload is being closely monitored. With India set to play Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup 2025, Bumrah’s performance will be vital for this important game.
