The Indian team has had many influential players in the squad over the years; from Sachin Tendulkar to MS Dhoni, there have been a plethora of stars in the side who are role models for the youngsters. However, none of the players seem to have had as much impact on the younger generation as 34-year-old Virat Kohli has had.

Over the years, Kohli has garnered major traction and fans all across the globe through his excellent performances for both India and in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Many young rising stars look up to Kohli and strive to become cricketers like him, with 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal being one of the many.

Shortly after making his much-anticipated debut for India and scoring a brilliant century in the first Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal came forward to reflect on what an honor it was to play alongside Virat Kohli. He also opined that there is much to learn from the 34-year-old, and he constantly tries to pick his mind.

“It is amazing to see him bat. What can I say? He is a legend. I am blessed to play with him. There are a lot of things to learn from him, be it in cricket or outside of it. I try to pick his mind,” Jaiswal told reporters after Day 1 of the second Test.

“Everyone has there own way to explaining things. They all have experience. I listen to all of their advice very carefully. When they are talking there are few thoughts behind it. Getting information, small small other stuffs, it’s just incredible,” he added.

There is disappointment when I get out: Jaiswal

Furthermore, Jaiswal also opened up on his dismissal in the second Test and opined that there is always disappointment when one gets out. It is worth noting that the 21-year-old scored 57 runs in 74 deliveries in the first innings before he was sent back to the pavilion by Jason Holder.

“I feel whenever I bat I try to make sure that how long I can bat and of course, there is disappointment when I get out. I need to just keep learning. I always want to do well for the team. I go out there with the same mindset. It is a pleasure to go out there and play for your country,” Jaiswal said.
