Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26: Angkrish Raghuvanshi rushed to hospital after sustaining head injury while fielding

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 Angkrish Raghuvanshi rushed to hospital after sustaining head injury while fielding

Mumbai’s young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi suffered a major injury during their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 clash against Uttarakhand when he sustained a serious head injury while fielding. The 21-year-old was stretchered off the field and rushed to a nearby hospital in Jaipur for medical evaluation.

The unfortunate incident occurred at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium during the 30th over of Uttarakhand’s innings. Off-spinner Tanush Kotian was bowling when batter Saurabh Rawat attempted a slog-sweep. The shot took a top edge and travelled towards the deep mid-wicket region, where Raghuvanshi sprinted to attempt a catch. While his one-handed diving effort was impressive, it ended painfully as he lost balance and fell onto the turf.

During the fall, Raghuvanshi’s head struck the ground, and he also appeared to hurt his shoulder and neck. He initially got up on his haunches but soon collapsed again, clearly in discomfort. Mumbai’s medical staff rushed onto the field as the youngster struggled to move his neck. With his condition worsening, a stretcher was called, and an ambulance eventually transported him to Jaipur’s SDMH Hospital.

According to reports, Raghuvanshi was taken for precautionary scans, including a CT scan, and will remain under observation. There was a noticeable delay in arranging the stretcher and ambulance, during which he was in discomfort.

Earlier in the match, he had opened the batting for Mumbai but managed just 11 runs off 20 balls. Star batter Rohit Sharma, coming off an unbeaten 155 in the opening game, was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Despite losing early wickets, Mumbai recovered well through half-centuries from Musheer Khan (55), Sarfaraz Khan (55), and an unbeaten 93 from wicketkeeper-batter Hardik Tamore. Contributions from captain Shardul Thakur and Shams Mulani helped Mumbai post a total of 331/7. For Uttarakhand, Devendra Bora was the standout bowler with figures of 3/74.

Notably, the Mumbai batter, who represents Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, has scored 463 runs in 22 matches across two seasons. He also began the Vijay Hazare Trophy on a positive note with a 38-run knock against Sikkim in Mumbai’s opening match.
