Legbreak bowler Crishan Kalugamage was breathing fire at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, for the T20 World Cup 2026 match between the West Indies and Italy on Thursday, February 19. The Italian spinner had started frugally, but the Caribbean skipper took down the charge upon him by whacking a six on the last ball of the eleventh over. Kalugamage was taken off the attack, but when he returned, he dismantled Hope (75 off 46) on the first ball of his new spell, running through the batter’s defence as he played across.
The wicket was a much-needed one for the Italian side, as it inflicted a collapse on the two-time champions. Later, Kalugamage also sent Jason Holder packing to pick up his second wicket of the day. He finished his four overs while giving away just 25 runs, helping the debutants to restrict Hope & Co. for 165-6 at the end of the first innings. The Harry Manenti-led side needs 166 to upset the Caribbeans after the bowlers were mighty impressive in their job to stem the flow of runs.
