Tanzid Hasan departed in the first over in the second innings of the Asia Cup 2025 Super-Four fixture between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Saturday, September 20. The in-form Nuwan Thushara sent the Bangladesh opener packing for a two-ball duck.
Sri Lanka batted first after Litton Das won the toss and opted to field. Dasun Shanaka played a blinder of an innings, smashing 64 off 37 balls, belting three fours and six sixes. Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, and Charith Asalanka also made useful contributions to help the Lankan Lions finish at 168/7 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Sri Lanka would have hoped for a strong start with the ball. Thushara, who had dismissed Tanzid for a six-ball duck in the first over of the Group B clash between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, got rid of the southpaw once again.
While in the previous meeting, Thushara bowled Tanzid with an in-swinger, on this occasion, he used a well-disguised slower delivery to catch the 24-year-old by surprise. Tanzid walked down the track, looking for a boundary. However, he didn’t pick the off-cutter, and the ball went past the bat and knocked out the top of off-stump.
