VHT 2025-26: Who is Hardik Tamore? – Rohit Sharma’s lookalike and Mumbai teammate who has gone viral

Ace India batter Rohit Sharma shone in Mumbai’s opening 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Sikkim with a power-packed 94-ball 155 in a dominating eight-wicket for the Shardul Thakur-led side. A picture of Rohit and Hardik Tamore during Mumbai’s innings has been doing the rounds.

Rohit and Tamore could be seen standing next to each other, with the wicketkeeper-batter bearing an uncanny resemblance with the experienced cricketer. The Mumbai match was not broadcasted on any platform. Therefore, the picture went viral on social media only on Christmas (December 25). At first glance, a lot of netizens felt that the photograph was morphed.

Who is Hardik Tamore?

Born in Thane, Tamore has been a part of Mumbai’s setup over the last few seasons. He has been an all-format player for the team, having made a steady name for himself in one of the country’s most prestigious domestic tournament.

Tamore is a technically sound wicketkeeper-batter known for contributing in the middle order. He has also built a solid reputation by providing some strong finishes to the Mumbai side. His biggest breakthrough came in the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy, when his unbeaten ton against Uttar Pradesh in the semi-final brought him to prominence.

Tamore’s gameplay is that of a versatile batter. He has displayed elegant shot selection and awareness while batting and is known for efficiently rotating strike in addition to finding gaps with ease. Tamore has also shown that he can strike lusty blows whenever the team is in need of some.

He has been a consistent presence in Mumbai cricket growing up, representing the Mumbai squad at various age-group levels. He has been consistently backed by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and has not disappointed. Tamore recently won the Player of the Match award in Mumbai‘s second VHT contest, scoring an unbeaten 82-ball 93.
