India Women batter Veda Krishnamurthy has stepped down from all formats of international cricket. She made the decision public via a social media post on Friday, July 25. She has represented the Women in Blue in over 100 matches, and has now finally hung her boots from international cricket.

She last represented the country in 2018 and has since found ways to remain attached to the game in many ways, broadcasting being one. She currently is a commentator for JioHotstar and shares her analyses on the pre-match and post-match shows from live action, especially in women’s cricket games. She has mentioned that she wishes to say goodbye to playing the sport, but not separating herself from it completely.

“A small-town girl with big dreams. From Kadur’s quiet lanes to wearing the India jersey with pride. This game gave me everything joy, pain, purpose, and family. Today, I say goodbye to playing, but not to cricket. To my family, teammates, coaches, friends, and every supporter behind the scenes, thank you. And to the fans, your love, even from afar, meant more than you’ll ever know. Ready to give back to the game that gave me a life. I played with fire in my heart and pride in every step. Always for the team. Always for India.🇮🇳,” she captioned on her Instagram handle.

“I truly believes this second innings will be just as meaningful,” she added further.
