UAE secured their place at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027 with a one-run victory over Malaysia in the Asia Qualifier final in Kuala Lumpur on July 29, 2026. The result handed UAE the only qualification berth on offer from the eight-team regional event, confirming their participation at the global tournament scheduled to be jointly hosted by Nepal and Bangladesh.

UAE posted 95 runs in their 20 overs in the final. Malaysia, in reply, scored 94 for six in their 20 overs, falling one run short. The margin made it among the tightest conclusions of the entire qualifying campaign, which ran from July 23 to July 29, 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.

Al Maseera Jahangir was named Player of the Match for her all-round contribution in the final. She topscored for UAE with 31 runs off 34 balls, an innings that gave the total its foundation at a point where every run carried weight.

Who stood out for UAE in the Asia Qualifier final?

Al Maseera Jahangir was the standout individual in the final. Her knock of 31 from 34 balls was the highest score in UAE’s total of 95 and earned her the Player of the Match award. With the match decided by a single run, her contribution at the crease proved to be the decisive factor across the 40 overs. UAE captain Mehak Thakur led the side throughout the Asia Qualifier campaign, guiding the team through a competitive eight-team field to reach and win the final.

“I’m so pleased by how well our team dealt with the pressure in this final which led to our win. It’s so exciting to qualify for the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, we are excited to get there and hopefully play as convincingly as we did during this tournament.” Thakur said as quoted by ICC.

What does UAE’s qualification mean for the 2027 tournament?

UAE’s victory in the final confirmed they are the only team from the Asia Qualifier to advance to the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027. No other side from the eight-team regional event will join them at the global stage, making the final the decisive match of the entire qualifying process.

The ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2027 will be jointly hosted by Nepal and Bangladesh. UAE’s place at that tournament marks a significant moment for women’s age-group cricket in the country, with the squad having come through a full qualifying campaign to earn their berth.
