Top 3 fastest batters to reach 2,000 T20I runs by balls faced (Source: BCCI)
Reaching 2,000 runs in men’s T20 Internationals is a significant milestone, and doing so quickly by balls faced is an even rarer achievement. Only a handful of batters in the history of the format have managed to get there in under 1,400 deliveries.
On October 11, 2026, Abhishek Sharma became the fastest batter in men’s T20I history to reach 2,000 runs in terms of balls faced, surpassing a record that had stood since December 2023.
Here are the top three batters who reached the landmark most quickly:
1. Abhishek Sharma (India)

Abhishek Sharma became the fastest batter to reach 2,000 T20I runs by balls faced, achieving the milestone during the 3rd T20I against West Indies at Holkar Stadium, Indore, on October 11, 2026. He got there in just 1,024 deliveries, bettering the previous record by 140 balls. In that innings, the left-handed all-rounder scored 69 off 30 deliveries, including 6 fours and 5 sixes, and reached his half-century in just 18 balls. At the time of the milestone, Abhishek had accumulated 2,036 runs in 65 T20I matches at a career strike rate of 188.77. He made his T20I debut on July 6, 2024 against Zimbabwe and became the sixth Indian to reach 2,000 T20I runs, joining Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.
2. Suryakumar Yadav (India)

Suryakumar Yadav held the record for the fastest to 2,000 T20I runs before Abhishek broke it. The Mumbai batter reached the landmark in 1,164 balls, having crossed the 2,000-run mark against South Africa in Johannesburg in December 2023. Abhishek’s new benchmark is 140 balls fewer than Suryakumar’s previous record. Suryakumar has gone on to accumulate 3,272 runs in 113 T20I matches, establishing himself as one of the most prolific T20I batters of his generation.
3. Aaron Finch (Australia)

Aaron Finch sits third on the all-time list, having reached 2,000 T20I runs in 1,283 balls. The former Australia captain crossed the milestone in September 2020 against England. His 1,283-ball mark is 259 balls more than Abhishek’s new benchmark of 1,024. Finch finished his T20I career with a total of 3,120 runs and remains one of Australia’s most successful openers in the shortest format. His place on this list reflects the consistent scoring rate he maintained throughout his international career.
