Pakistan and Bangladesh will meet in the first men’s cricket semi-final of the Asian Games 2026 on October 1, 2026, at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. The weather forecast for the day is expected to be better than the conditions that disrupted the earlier rounds.

Both sides advanced to the semi-finals as higher-seeded teams after their respective quarter-final matches were abandoned due to rain. Bangladesh’s quarter-final against Malaysia was among the four matches called off at the quarter-final stage. Neither team played a completed match in the tournament, so both enter the semi-final without any competitive exposure to the Nisshin surface.

Top 3 bowlers to watch out for in the 1st semi-final of the Asian Games 2026:

3. Rishad Hossain

Rishad Hossain is a leg-spin bowler who has been a consistent wicket-taker in Bangladesh’s T20 setup. His career T20I record stands at 80 wickets in 62 matches at a strike rate of 15.58. In his last 8 matches, he has taken 12 wickets at an economy rate of 8.19 and a strike rate of 14.16.

He provides Bangladesh with an attacking leg-spin option in the middle overs, capable of picking up wickets at crucial stages of a match.

2. Abrar Ahmed

Abrar Ahmed is in Pakistan’s squad for the Asian Games 2026. Pakistan’s squad for the Asian Games 2026 is led by Sahibzada Farhan, and Abrar is one of the key bowling options available to the captain.

With neither side having played a completed match on the Nisshin surface, Abrar’s ability to extract turn and deceive batters with his variations could prove valuable in what is expected to be a closely contested semi-final.

1. Shoriful Islam

Shoriful Islam is a left-arm pace bowler who features in Bangladesh’s probable XI for the semi-final. He is part of a Bangladesh pace attack that also includes Mustafizur Rahman, giving the side two experienced left-arm options with the new ball and at the death. Shoriful’s ability to swing the ball and vary his pace makes him a threat in T20 cricket.

With both teams entering the semi-final without a completed match in the tournament, conditions at Korogi Sports Park will be fresh for all players, and Shoriful’s pace and movement could play a decisive role in Bangladesh’s bowling effort against Pakistan on Thursday, October 01.
