Ahead of England’s semi-final clash against South Africa in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup, England sensation Nat Sciver-Burnt has mentioned that to be the best in the world, you need to beat Australia.

Notably, the Meg Lanning-led side is set to challenge India on Thursday, February 23 with the hope of qualifying for yet another final while the Proteas will take on England on February 24.

Now, ahead of their big game against South Africa, the 30-year-old Sciver-Burnt hailed Australia and spoke about their consistency but she also reminded everyone that at the moment, they want to focus on the present and thinking too much about the future hasn’t worked well for them in the past.

“To be the best in the world, you have to beat the current best in the world and Australia have been very consistently at the top of their game for a really long time. At the moment we’re trying to focus on ourselves and not look too outwardly at other teams. In the past, we’ve probably done that quite a lot and it’s not really worked out for us,” said Sciver-Burnt.

We are working towards wanting to be number one in the world: Sciver-Burnt

Other than Australia, England are the only other unbeaten side in the competition. However, Sciver-Burnt has bigger ambitions as she revealed that England’s main goal is now to be the number one side in the world. She believes that the team has the potential to win games and can challenge for every title.

“As a group, we are working towards wanting to be number one in the world. But the way we’re doing it is the most important thing. And the way that everyone is really brought in and believes in the way that we’re playing will win us games will win us tournaments, and I think that’s the most important thing,” she added.
