Despite the Delhi Capitals’ late surge for the playoffs which may seem a little too late, their 19-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants in the final league-stage match has ignited anticipation for exciting encounters before the playoffs, notably featuring teams such as the Chennai Super Kings, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator, Aakash Chopra, discussed the crucial matter regarding the southern franchises in a recent video on his YouTube channel. While Lucknow Super Giants have an additional game remaining, their defeat against DC has potentially benefited the other southern franchises in terms of their respective race to the playoffs.

“Lucknow – it seems like it was a good balloon but someone pricked it with a pin. Delhi won the game and Delhi have helped all the southern teams, whether it’s SRH, RCB or CSK, because LSG cannot reach 16 points now,” remarked Chopra in a video on his Youtube channel.

Lucknow have totally crashlanded in the last two games: Chopra

Spilling out the sad reality about DC’s campaign coming to a close despite their impressive victory against LSG as well as Pant being back and fit, Chopra turned his gaze to LSG’s recent performances. Merely a week ago, LSG seemed destined for the playoffs, however, an exterminating loss sandwiched between unsuccessful chases saw LSG deep-dive into an uncomfortable slot, getting virtually out of the IPL.

“Delhi’s journey for all practical purposes is done and dusted. They didn’t get the cup this year but they got Pant. That was a good thing but the season – so near, yet so far. Lucknow have totally crashlanded in the last two games,” added Chopra.
