Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League presents significant opportunities for several players, especially Prithvi Shaw in the Delhi Capitals squad to revive or strengthen their careers ahead of the 2026 season of the marquee T20 league.

Speaking ahead of the new season, Chopra particularly pointed to Prithvi Shaw, stating that the aggressive opener has a major chance to re-establish himself at the top level after falling out of the spotlight in recent times.

“It’s such a massive opportunity for Prithvi Shaw. The world had forgotten him. He worked hard, changed his state, scored runs, and returned here. So, it’s a great opportunity as and when he gets it. He will have to grab it with both hands,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Shaw was picked up by Delhi Capitals in last year’s player auction for INR 75 lakhs. He was unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction, but the coming season brings a fresh opportunity to establish himself once again in the IPL.

The ace commentator further commented on Jammu and Kashmir’s pace sensation Auqib Nabi, claiming that he may get a chance to bowl with the new ball with Mitchell Starc.

“Auqib Nabi Dar, it’s such a big opportunity for him and the entire Kashmir. He was sold for more than ₹8 crore and is a part of the Delhi franchise. He will have to do the difficult job. They don’t have any other new-ball bowler. So bowl with the new ball alongside Mitchell Starc, and make a name for yourself. The sky is the limit,” Chopra continued.

He further claimed that the Captals have built is a good team and have a genuine chance of claiming their first ever IPL trophy.

“They have not won even once thus far. So win this time. There cannot be a bigger opportunity than this. They are a good team. They reach the final every season in the Women’s Premier League as well, but are unable to win. Maybe this time these guys reach there and win,” he concluded.
