Roger Binny, the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), shared his insights on the new initiative, namely the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ by the governing body to promote Test cricket. BCCI, on Saturday, March 9, announced an additional corpus of INR 40 crore following India’s crushing triumph in the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamshala. Rohit Sharma and Co. showcased exceptional prowess and won the game by an innings and 64 runs to wrap up the series 4-1.

The latest initiative by the BCCI aims to provide ‘financial growth and stability’ to the players. Beginning from the 2022-23 season, the scheme will act as an additional reward on top of the regular match fee for Tests. Moreover, it marks BCCI’s promptness to recognise the players’ efforts and remunerate them accordingly.

“We are thrilled to introduce the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme,’ reaffirming our dedication to the well-being and encouragement of our senior men cricketers. This initiative aligns with our vision of promoting Test cricket as the pinnacle of the sport,” Binny said in a press release released by the BCCI.
