The innings from Vaibhav Suryavanshi against Gujarat Titans took the cricketing world by storm as he became the fastest Indian centurion and the second-fastest overall, achieving the feat in just 35 balls. The young southpaw enters the record books in his very first IPL season.

Some commentators and analysts have even compared him to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. In fact, the ‘God of Cricket’ recently tweeted about the young cricketer’s innings on this social media, appreciating the fearless approach and ability of the young left-hander. The ‘Master Blaster’ also noted that it was the perfect recipe for a fabulous innings.

“Vaibhav’s fearless approach, bat speed, picking the length early, and transferring the energy behind the ball was the recipe behind a fabulous innings,” Tendulkar tweeted on his official ‘X’ handle.

Youngest IPL centurion at 14, Suryavanshi rewrites history

This knock has now also made Vaibhav Suryavanshi the youngest batter to score a century in the IPL, at the age of 14 years and 32 days. The previous record was held by Manish Pandey, who achieved the feat in 2009 while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against the Deccan Chargers at Centurion.

Other players among the top five youngest centurions include Rishabh Pant (20 years and 218 days), Devdutt Padikkal (20 years and 289 days), and his fellow teammate and opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal (21 years and 123 days), who scored a century in 2023 against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, amassing 124 runs off 62 deliveries with a strike rate of 200 in the match.
