In a blockbuster encounter, India will be taking on England at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Thursday, March 05. The two heavyweights will clash to book their place in the finals of the T20 World Cup 2026

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, are on the way to defending their title in an emphatic fashion. Apart from their one-off loss against the South African side, the Men in Blue have been putting on a show in front of the home crowd.

But the English side, led by young Harry Brook, doesn’t seem to be any less. They have a team that can beat any side on their day. With their unit consisting of some of the biggest T20 big-hitters going around, the English side has the ability to shock the co-hosts with a clinical performance.

And players can make this match even more special with some epic performances. Overall, the India versus England clash promises to be a spectacle for the viewers, as it will also seal the second spot for the grand finale in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 08.

Here are the top 3 player battles for England  vs India, Semifinal 2

3. Arshdeep Singh vs Jos Buttler

Despite him having a horrific campaign with the bat, Jos Buttler still remains a danger for the Indians. And his impressive record against India suggests the same, as he is the batter who has scored the most runs (644 runs) against the Men in Blue in T20Is. His record at the Wankhede is pretty good as well. And the English side would want him to find his form in this encounter.

Posing a threat to him will be India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. Known for taking early wickets with the new ball, Singh has the ability to trouble the right-hander. Whoever comes out on top in this encounter will give his side a great start.

The battle of two former Rajasthan Royals colleagues: Sanju Samson vs Jofra Archer. Sanju Samson played an innings of his lifetime against the West Indies, helping the Indian team reach the semifinals. Team India would want him to repeat the same feat against England.

Up against him will be England’s speedster Jofra Archer. On a bouncy Wankhede pitch, Archer’s raw pace can trouble the Kerala batter. After a slow start, he has gained momentum, picking up crucial wickets for his side. This powerplay battle will be a mouth-watering one.

1. Jasprit Bumrah vs Will Jacks

This battle of the Mumbai Indians colleagues has the capacity to decide the course of the match. Will Jacks, England’s all-rounder, is having a historic campaign so far, already winning a record-equalling four Player of the Match awards for his team. What makes his performance special is that he has scored runs when his team needed them the most, especially in the death overs.

But he will be facing the master of the death overs, Jasprit Bumrah. Having played for the Mumbai Indians for many years now, no one knows better than Bumrah about what it is like to bowl death overs at the Wankhede. Whoever wins this battle will give their side a huge advantage.
