The second T20I of the ongoing series between South Africa and India saw both sides face off at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha on Tuesday, December 12. After the first game in Durban was washed out without a ball being bowled, both the sides hoped that the weather would be better for the second T20I.

The Indian team batted first and Rinku Singh’s performance caught the eyes instantly as his unbeaten knock of 68 runs in 39 deliveries helped team India post a competitive total of 180 runs in the first innings. After the game, the star batter revealed the chat that he had with skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Furthermore, he apologised for breaking the window of the commentator’s box as well.

“When I went out to bat, we were three wickets down, and it was tough, and the only chat I had with Surya while batting was him telling me to play my own game and continue to play like I usually do. I took my time to settle as it was tough in the beginning, but with time, I started to understand the deliveries and performed well,” Rinku Singh said in a video shared by the BCCI.

“I hit a six, and I did not know that the glass had been broken, you came and that is when I got to know, so sorry for that,” he added.

Reeza Hendricks’ masterclass propelled the Proteas to a win

Chasing a revised target of 152 runs in 15 overs after rain interruption, the Proteas got off to a wondrous start as opener Reeza Hendricks scored 49 runs in 27 deliveries while Aiden Markram amassed 30 runs off 17 deliveries as South Africa won the game by five wickets and an over to spare.

With a 1-0 lead in the series, the hosts will hope for a similar showing in the third T20I in Johannesburg on December 14, as they will be aiming to clinch the three-game affair.
