Smriti Mandhana calls Ellyse Perry, other Australian RCB players at unbox event

Royal Challengers Bangalore women recently scripted history as they lifted their maiden WPL (Women’s Premier League) title, defeating Delhi Capitals women in the summit clash of the tournament. The title caused a major uproar in the city of Bangalore as the fans took to the streets to celebrate.

To further celebrate the title, RCB organised an unbox event at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and the men’s team even presented the women’s team with a guard of honour for their achievements.

As the celebrations rolled at Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB women’s skipper Smriti Mandhana was captured on a video call with the Australian squadmates. Mandhana was seen on a video call with star all-rounder Ellyse Perry as she joined in the fun in Bangalore.

RCB women dominate DC women to lift maiden title

Speaking of the summit clash of the WPL 2024, the clash began with Delhi Capitals batting first. The side got off to a good start as openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma scored 23 and 44 runs, respectively. However, the rest of the batters failed to go big.

The collapse of the remaining batters saw Delhi Capitals bundled out for a score of 113 runs in the first innings. As for Bangalore, Shreyanka Patil was the highest wicket taker, with four wickets to her name. Sophie Molineux took three wickets, with Asha Sobhana striking twice.

Aiming to chase down the target, Bangalore got off to a brilliant start. The side opened the innings with Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine scoring 31 and 32 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Ellyse Perry finished the game for her side, scoring 35* runs in 37 deliveries.

Bangalore chased down the target with three balls to spare, winning the game by eight wickets. As for Delhi Capitals, Shikha Pandey and Minnu Mani struck once each, as Capitals missed out on the title for a second year in a row.
