Baroda’s Amit Passi has etched his name in cricketing history by becoming the third Indian to register a ton on T20 debut. He attained the special feat in an Elite Group C clash against Services during the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Baroda eventually clinched a 13-run win at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.
Only two Indians have achieved the milestone previously. Passi’s knock comprised 10 fours and nine sixes. The wicketkeeper-batter seemed on course for a much bigger knock but he was dismissed on the second ball of the 18th over. Passi’s innings was all the more special as he kept going with high intensity despite the fall of wickets around him.
List of Indian cricketers to have scored a century on T20 debut:
| Player | Team | Opposition | Year | Score |
| Akshath Reddy | Hyderabad | Mumbai | 2010 | 105* off 54 |
| Shivam Bhambri | Chandigarh | Himachal Pradesh | 2019 | 106 off 57 |
| Amit Passi | Baroda | Services | 2025 | 114 off 55 |
Passi got to his first half-century in 24 deliveries and added the next 64 runs off 31 deliveries. The second-highest score from Baroda was Bhanu Pania’s unbeaten 28 off 15 balls.
Baroda ended with 220/5 after opting to bat first. Abhishek Tiwari was the pick of the bowlers from Services, finishing with figures of 3/33 in his quota of four overs. The other couple of wickets were secured by Mohit Rathee and Ravi Chauhan.
Services’ top three batters aggregated 143 runs as the Mohit Ahlawat-led side looked set to chase the mammoth target down. However, Raj Limbani and Safvan Patel bowled commendably in the middle overs to keep the batters in check, picking up some crucial wickets.
The particular match was Baroda’s final of the league phase. They secured second spot after levelling with Gujarat, Haryana and Bengal on the basis of a superior net run rate. However, they are set to miss out on the spot in the Super League because of others currently playing their final league clash.
