Captains shook hands, and the game that wrote Gamage Sonal Dinusha‘s story of resilience all over SSC was done. The scorecard reads this game as a drawn affair, but Sri Lanka’s dressing room would take it as an extremely pleasing sign of what they could become with their Test team in future. On Day 5, where rain did not cause any interruption, India failed to clear the Lankan tail, picking just three wickets.

The Lankan Lions did not roar loud but launched a slow attack on the neighbours, hurting the latter’s chance for the World Test Championship final in 2027. Sri Lanka scored 250 runs with Dinusha in the spotlight of it all. Keshara Nuwantha also played a brave role at the crease, not letting his team lose the grip.

Of what very little the Indians could do on the fifth and final day, Ravindra Jadeja picked up a couple of scalps, while Manav Suthar got the better of Nuwantha. While the Lankan team is going through a transition, the Indians will hope that they have an injury-free squad, as they played without their regulars on this tour in the island nation.

SL vs IND 2026, 2nd Test: Top Performances from Day 5

Top Batting Performance: Sonal Dinusha

The series and the match will always and always be remembered for Dinusha and the way the youngster batted in his maiden Test series at home. He finished the series with 420 runs, including three hundreds and one half-century. His average remained a staggering 140.00 across four innings. He and the entire team will be extremely proud of what the youngster achieved in what was overall not too happy a series.

Top Bowling Performance: Ravindra Jadeja

In an extremely frustrating day for the Indian team, Jadeja‘s two wickets did not mean the world to the side as they eventually missed out on an excellent opportunity to finish the series with a 2-0 win. Jadeja first trapped Jayasuriya in the 117th over of the innings, getting his counterpart caught off Dhruv Jurel. Later in the innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal picked an extremely sharp catch which got Jadeja the wicket of Kumara.
