India take on Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series, set to commence on September 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The Afghan side will be going into this series as hosts, due to the security concerns in their country. Afghanistan will be looking to make a mark against the format’s big powerhouse, while India will be looking to use this as a run-up to get their combinations in order before the marquee Asian Games.

Both sides will be led by relatively new captains in Shreyas Iyer and Ibrahim Zadran. For Iyer, this will be his first series in charge in front of home fans, and he will be looking to make a mark after starting his tenure with losses to Ireland and England away.

Zadran takes over Afghanistan’s T20I side as part of a significant leadership shakeup, and this will be his first series in charge. With two relatively new captains going up against each other, here is a look into their respective stats in the T20I format.
