A four-day off-season conditioning camp organised by Punjab Kings in Bengaluru came to a close on September 17, with the franchise running the programme in partnership with Stance Health from September 14. Players including Shashank Singh, Priyansh Arya, Pyla Avinash, and Vishal Nishad took part, with the sessions aimed at building physical and mental readiness for the upcoming domestic season and the next IPL campaign.

The Bengaluru programme prioritised comprehensive athletic readiness rather than match-specific skills. Sessions incorporated customised strength and conditioning routines, targeted mobility drills, structured nutrition plans, and advanced recovery techniques. The design helped players identify physical benchmarks, manage workload, and work on injury prevention.

As reported by the press, the Bengaluru camp was the second such initiative by the franchise this year. An earlier skill-based camp had taken place at the team’s New Chandigarh base between August 11 and 15. Punjab Kings intends to organise further specialised camps at various locations around the country over the coming months as part of a structured preparation cycle ahead of the next IPL season. All-rounder Shashank Singh described the daily routine and its value for the group.

“In the morning we start with mobility and gym work, followed by a team lunch. In the evening we move into conditioning, and we finish the day with pool or recovery sessions. That routine gives us quality time together, and that is how we grow both as individuals and as a unit. Building strong bonds off the field is just as vital as our performance on it,” Shashank said, speaking to the press.

What did the daily camp schedule involve?

Each day at the camp followed a structured rhythm that balanced physical intensity with recovery. Morning sessions centred on mobility work and gym training, afternoons shifted to conditioning drills, and evenings wound down with pool and therapeutic recovery sessions. The format also created space for team bonding away from competitive cricket.

Shashank also reflected on the broader commitment required at this level. He noted that while many view the IPL as a three-month tournament, players competing at the top must treat it as a full twelve-month commitment, with fitness, diet, and training all needing to be addressed well in advance of the season.

How did Priyansh Arya assess the franchise’s year-round support?

Priyansh Arya drew attention to the logistical and administrative backing Punjab Kings extends to its players throughout the year, not just during the IPL window. He specifically acknowledged the franchise’s ability to arrange training facilities across multiple cities at short notice. He also addressed the quality of facilities at the Bengaluru camp and the growing importance of recovery in modern cricket

“The IPL might be played across three months, but Punjab Kings actively tracks our progress and supports us for the full nine months of the off-season. Whether we need to train in Mumbai, Bengaluru , or attend camps in Chandigarh, the franchise arranges everything within a day. Having that level of backing throughout the year gives a player immense confidence. As the season approaches, our focus is to get as much quality training as possible and achieve peak physical condition. The facilities here, especially the dedicated physio support and strength and conditioning programmes, are tailored specifically for our individual needs. In modern cricket, fast and efficient recovery is what makes the real difference over a long season,” Arya said, via the aforementioned source.
