Afghanistan’s Sediqullah Atal and Rashid Khan have moved sharply up the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings after their side crushed Zimbabwe by 158 runs in the UAE Tri-Series in Abu Dhabi.
Atal anchored Afghanistan’s innings with a knock of 102 that helped the side reach 294 after choosing to bat. His Player of the Match display earned him a climb of 12 slots, placing him at 20th in the ODI batting table. Rashid, bowling with his customary precision, returned four for 17 and removed the prized wicket of Sikandar Raza. That performance pushed him further clear at the summit of the ODI bowling rankings, where he now holds an advantage of 80 rating points over second-placed Abrar Ahmed.
The same fixture also benefited Afghanistan’s left-arm seamer Fazalhaq Farooqi, who moved up 12 places to 46th after claiming two for 15 against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe’s Brad Evans, who collected seven wickets across two matches in the tri-series, advanced 19 places to joint-65th in the bowling table.
Bangladesh also featured in the UAE Tri-Series, and their players registered movement despite a defeat to Zimbabwe. Batter Tanzid Hasan scored 46 in that loss and climbed three places to 21st, while seamer Taskin Ahmed took three for 44 to reach a career-best 12th in the bowling rankings, a rise of nine places. The bracket between 11th and 20th in that list is particularly competitive, with all those positions separated by only 28 rating points.
How did the Pakistan Tri-Series affect the ODI batting rankings?
The rankings update also incorporated results from the Pakistan Tri-Series. Salman Ali Agha struck 107 as Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs, a knock that nudged him one place higher to 12th in the ODI batting chart. Tom Banton of England contributed 57 off 53 deliveries and moved up 16 places to 66th, while Sri Lanka’s Pavan Rathnayake made the biggest leap in the batting table, climbing 34 places to 75th.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf advanced two places to 20th, and Naseem Shah moved four places higher to 45th. Afghanistan’s emerging spinner A.M. Ghazanfar gained seven places to reach 31st.
Nepal’s Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Airee also registered gains, rising six places to 82nd and seven places to 87th respectively on the back of their outings in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.
What changed in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings?
West Indies captain Shai Hope produced an unbeaten 102 in the fourth match of a series against India that concluded in a 2-2 draw, and that innings lifted him two places from 11th to ninth in the T20I batting rankings, placing him inside the top ten.
His teammate Sherfane Rutherford struck 49 not out from 26 deliveries in the same series and rose six places to 18th. Spinner Gudakesh Motie also benefited, climbing 10 places to 26th among T20I bowlers.
