The 2025 edition of the Maharaja Trophy T20 Tournament, an annual event organized by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), has seen one of its most promising talents Samit Dravid go unsold at the auctions ahead of the upcoming season. Samit, a young batter, who is also the son of former India batter Rahul Dravid, was a part of the league during the previous season with Mysuru Warriors, who won the title, led by captain Karun Nair.

Samit played seven encounters in the 2024 season, aggregating 82 runs at an underwhelming average of 11.71 and a below-par strike-rate of 113.88. He had a highest score of 33, which came off 24 balls against Gulbarga Mystics in the seventh league stage match of the season. Despite his efforts, Mystics won the match in what was a last-ball thriller. This was Samit’s only 30-plus score in the season, and following a few disappointing outings with the bat, he was not a part of the business end.

While Karun Nair is expected to be associated with the Warriors as the captain of the squad once again, the full combination of the team can be judged only after they finalize their squad following the auctions. Nair is not the only player retained, as Gautam Mishra, a left-arm quick, who played for the club last year as well, has been picked up once again for a price of INR 2.25 lakh.

Mishra, the 22-year-old pacer, was a part of the squad last year, and after featuring in only game, he was ruled out of the rest of the season due to an injury. He will once again look to provide his best with the ball for the defending champions in the next edition of the marquee tournament from Karnataka.

Speaking more of Mysuru Warriors’ victorious campaign in 2024, they were up against Mayank Agarwal-led Bengaluru Blasters in the grand finale at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru and clinched the title comfortably by winning the contest by 45 runs. Skipper Karun Nair was the Player of the Tournament for his brilliant 560 runs in the season.
