Sachin Tendulkar, the highest run-scorer of all time in international cricket, is considered as the finest batter to have ever played the sport. The former India captain showcased what can be achieved when talent is combined with hard work.

Tendulkar made his international debut at the age of just 16. His international career spanned 24 years, during which he helped India win several games across formats. In the mid-1990s, the Indian team primarily depended on Tendulkar to score a bulk of the runs.

Tendulkar also led the Indian team for a brief while. He finished his international career with a whopping 34,357 runs in 664 matches across formats. Tendulkar was also a handy bowler, having 46 wickets in Tests and 154 in ODIs. He also bagged one wicket in T20Is.

The highlight of the 52-year-old’s career occurred was the 2011 ODI World Cup, in which he finished as India’s highest run-getter and the second-highest overall, playing a pivotal role in the MS Dhoni-led side’s triumph. Two years later, he won the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time in his illustrious career.
