India made an emphatic comeback in the three-match T20I series against South Africa as they beat them by 108 runs in the third T20I on Thursday, December 14 at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. After being put in to bat first, India posted a mammoth score of 201/7 in their allotted 20 overs riding on a scintillating hundred from Suryakumar Yadav.

In reply, South Africa were bundled out for just 95 in the second innings as Kuldeep Yadav picked up a fifer on his birthday. Here are the talking points from the game:

1. Suryakumar Yadav levels Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell’s record for most T20I hundreds

The Indian captain continued his incredible run in T20Is as he scored 100 off 56 balls smashing seven fours and eight sixes. With his ton, the Mumbai-born batter became the player with joint most hundreds in T20Is along with Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell who both have four centuries to their name in the shorted format.

2. Kuldeep Yadav first bowler to pick a T20I fifer on his birthday

The left-arm spinner picked up 5/17 in 2.5 overs as he dismissed David Miller, Donovan Ferreira, Keshav Maharaj, Nandre Burger and Lizaad Williams. Notably, they were the best bowling figures for the 29-year-old of his T20I career and he also became the second Indian to pick two fifers in the format along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

3. Mohammed Siraj becomes 11th Indian bowler to bowl 2 maiden overs in T20Is

After leaking 14 runs in the first over during the second T20I, Mohammed Siraj made a terrific comeback in the third game as he started off with a maiden against Reeza Hendricks. With his feat, he also became the 11th Indian bowler to have two or more maiden overs in T20Is. Siraj finished with figures of 0/13 in three overs.

Losing Captain, Aiden Markram, South Africa said:

Wasn’t too unhappy with chasing 200. Felt we could have chased it down. Was chaseable. It was slightly on the lower side. When we were fielding, it seemed batters could hit it everywhere. Would have been nice to do better. There are some positives that we can take forward. Couple of good things and couple of things we can work on.

Winning Captain, POM, POTS, Suryakumar Yadav (156 runs), India said:

I am good. I am walking, so good. Always a good feeling. When it comes in a winning cause, it makes me happier. We wanted to play some fearless brand of cricket. The idea was to bat first, put some runs on the board and defend. The boys work day in and day out. Happy that they showed some character. He(Kuldeep) is never happy. He is always hungry. It is a nice self gift on his birthday. I mean it is important to know your game. I just go out there and enjoy myself. The balance is important.
