Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Yashasvi Jaiswal claimed a brilliant catch near the boundary ropes to dismiss Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Rahul Tripathi during an intense chase. A tough pill for Sanju Samson and Co. to swallow as Sunrisers clinched the two points from the jaws of defeat, courtesy of a last-ball thriller.

During the chase of a humongous 215 runs, the visiting team were in a command position after the solid start handed by the opening duo of Anmolpreet Singh and Abhishek Sharma. The pair added 51 runs for the first wicket before Anmolpreet headed back to the dugout for 33 runs off 25 balls.

Despite the breakthrough, Rahul Tripathi swiftly got into the groove and slammed the big runs to keep SRH steady in the chase as he notched up 47 runs off 29 balls. However, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant catch that drew curtains on his majestic innings.

In the second ball of the 18th over, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a slower delivery, getting some turn on it as Tripathi got a top edge on the slog-sweep. Jaiswal, who was present near the boundary ropes, took a stunning grab to send the batter back to the pavilion. Tripathi’s knock included three maximums and two fours at an impressive strike rate of 162.06.

Impressively, Chahal claimed a second wicket in the form of rival skipper Aiden Markram in the fifth ball of the same over. In an attempt to play the reverse sweep, Chahal trapped the skipper to dismiss him for a meagre six off five balls which left SRH reeling in the chase.

However, it was Glenn Phillips, who carved out a blistering knock in mere six balls to revive the chase. The explosive hitter slammed three consecutive sixes off the penultimate over of Kuldip Yadav followed by a four before he was dismissed for 25 off seven balls. Abdul Samad showed nerves of steel as the match went down to the wire against Sandeep Sharma to snatch the game away with a maximum in a final-ball thriller.
