Royal Challengers Bangalore hint name change ahead of IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to change their name ahead of the IPL 2024. Previously, the franchise changed their logo but it was always the name that the fans protested against. As per the latest announcement, the Faf du Plessis-led side has hinted to rename the franchise at the RCB Unbox event, which is slated to take place on March 19.

Meanwhile, it is believed that the term Bangalore will be changing to Bengaluru, the original name of the city. Local fans protested against the name for a long time but the authority finally heard their voice. Even though nothing is official at the moment, RCB fans are hopeful for an obvious change that is pending.

Other than that, the franchise is also likely to introduce its jersey for the upcoming season. There are other surprises in store but the franchise has not revealed any of those so far.

On the other hand, the majority of the Indian players of RCB have started their practice but the seniors are yet to join. There is no clear update on Virat Kohli as well, who needs a big season to make it to India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He was last spotted in England with his daughter Vamika but since then, the star cricketer has not made any public appearance. It needs to be seen if Kohli will make his return to the Unbox Event or will join the squad at a later date.

Notably, RCB will play their opening game against Chennai Super Kings on March 22 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. After the Unbox event, they are slated to fly to Chennai on the following day, in order to get used to the conditions as the surface heavily assists the spinners.
