‘Riyan Parag is the reason’ – Subramaniam Badrinath on Sanju Samson’s reported exit from Rajasthan Royals

Former Chennai Super Kings player Subramaniam Badrinath feels Riyan Parag being pushed for the captaincy role is one of the major reasons behind Sanju Samson wanting a potential move out of Rajasthan Royals. There have been multiple reports floating around suggesting that Samson could exit RR.

“I feel Riyan Parag is the reason. If you consider him for captaincy, how do you expect someone like Samson to stay?,” stated Badrinath in a video on his YouTube channel.

Samson not someone who could fit in at No. 5 or 6: Badrinath

Badrinath further opined why that Samson would not be an ideal fit if not batting in the top four batting spots assuming he gets acquired by CSK in the future. However, Badrinath said that was not confident that CSK would risk bringing in Samson due to their team composition.

“If Sanju Samson does come to CSK, then he could be the like-for-like replacement for MS Dhoni. Samson is a batter who can bat in the top three or four spots in the batting order. He is not someone who could fit in the number five or six spot in the playing XI. CSK are strong in those areas of the playing XI. Mhatre is settled, Gaikwad is settled, Brevis is settled,” he added.

“I am not sure if CSK would do a transaction like MI did to get Hardik Pandya from GT. So even if Sanju Samson comes in, the question remains whether CSK can fit him into the playing XI,” remarked Badrinath.

It has been confirmed that Samson is looking to move on from RR. Another reason for the change of mind for the wicketkeeper-batter, as per Cricbuzz, was the management wanting to push Samson to No. 3 with the prominence of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the top of the order.
