
Ace Indian batter Rinku Singh has reportedly been threatened by the underworld. An investigation which is being carried out by the Mumbai Crime Branch revealed that the warnings to the cricketer were provided by the notorious Dawood Ibrahim gang (D-company).
It is understood that Rinku’s promotional team were sent three separate ransom demands between February and April this year. A total of INR 5 crore has been demanded by members of the D-company.
A couple of suspects have been apprehended in the West Indies. The two accused, Mohammed Dilshad and Mohammed Naveed, have been handed over to Indian authorities on August 1. The suspected were earlier arrested for demanding a INR 10 crore ransom from late former MLA Baba Siddiqui’s son Zeeshan Siddiqui. It is reported, as per a TV9 report, that one of them admitted to talking to Rinku’s team from the sum of money.
Rinku, who hails from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, comes from extremely humble background. His family had to endure plenty of of financial challenges during Rinku’s childhood. Rinku has had to face a lot of off-the-field challenges despite of performing well in cricket. He has also increase his security after marrying MP Priya Saroj.
Rinku was recently a part of India‘s Asia Cup 2025 squad. He was brought in directly into the final in place of the injured Hardik Pandya. Rinku hit the winning runs via a boundary in the final over of the game to enable the Men in Blue past the finish line.
Previously, Rinku was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2025. He registered 206 runs in 13 matches (11 innings) at a strike rate of 153.73. Rinku has been a part of KKR’s lineup since seven seasons now. He was recently selected for the T20I squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia.
