There is unfortunate news for Sri Lanka as spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the ODI World Cup 2023. According to India.com, Hasaranga will not be able to participate in the prestigious event in India due to a hamstring tear. Sri Lanka Cricket has four more days to announce Hasaranga’s replacement, as the final World Cup squads must be submitted by September 28.
Previously, Hasaranga was also unable to participate in the recently concluded Asia Cup due to the same injury. The last time he was seen in action was during the Lanka Premier League, where he led the B Kandy Love team.
