According to the latest developments, it is being reported that ace Indian batter, Virat Kohli, will be honoured by the Delhi and District Cricket Administration (DDCA) at Stumps on Day 2 of the ongoing edition of the Ranji Trophy for his representing the nation for more than 100 Test matches. Kohli is currently representing Delhi against Railways in their seventh-round clash, being played at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Additional details regarding the tribute are yet to be officially revealed by the authorities. For the unversed, Kohli last played in the Ranji Trophy in November 2012 before the ongoing game. His appearance for Delhi marks his return to the coveted tournament after a lengthy 12-year hiatus.

Speaking of Day 1 of the clash, Delhi gained control of proceedings immediately after winning the toss and opting to field first. The opening duo of Railways was dismissed back to the hut within the sixth over of the day. Skipper, Suraj Ahuja, perished with a run-a-ball 14-run knock as Railways appeared to be in deep trouble. It was then when wicketkeeper-batter, Upendra Yadav, and seasoned bowling all-rounder, Karn Sharma, came together and rescued their side.

It was courtesy of the two that Railways reached to 241 before being bowled out. Navdeep Saini and Sumit Mathur ended up with respective three-wicket hauls. Delhi ended the day on 41/1 after 10 overs, with Sanat Sangwan and Yash Dhull in the middle. Kohli will most likely grace his presence with the bat on the second day, and it will be interesting as to how he approaches his innings, given his torrid form in the longest format of the game of late.

For India, Kohli will feature in the three ODIs against England before heading over to the United Arab Emirates for the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy. The former Indian skipper will understandably be a vital component for the Indian setup in the marquee tournament.
