Shreyanka Patil is one of the most talented young cricketers to have come out of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2025). However, the bowling all-rounder is all but ruled out of the tournament’s third season.

The defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set for a huge blow as Patil is set to miss the entire WPL 2025 season. This is because of the recent injury sustained by the youngster.

As per CricketNext, unsold all-rounder Sneh Rana could be the frontrunner to replace Shreyanka in the RCB squad. Rana had earlier gone unsold in the WPL auction last year after being released by the Gujarat Giants (GG) and has since been spotted with the RCB team ahead of their opening match of the season on Friday, February 14. Notably, Shreyanka Patil was included in many of RCB’s social media posts heading into the tournament. But, the off-spinner recently took to social media herself, sharing a post hinting that perhaps her participation in the tournament is uncertain.

Check out Shreyanka Patil’s latest post here:

“Heartbroken, but I will fly again,” Shreyanka wrote on her official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle.

For the unversed, Shreyanka played a key role for RCB in the previous edition as she won the Purple Cap. She also took four wickets in the final against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Patil had been dealing with a similar injury before the WPL season, too. It’s another huge concern that could hamper RCB’s title defence.

They are already dealing with the absences of Asha Sobhana, who is out with a knee injury, Sophie Devine, who is on a break, left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux, who is injured, and medium-fast bowler Kate Cross, who has pulled out to concentrate on her injury rehab.

Despite the absence of crucial players, RCB got their campaign off to a memorable start as they chased down a 202-run target in the opening game against Gujarat Giants with consummate ease. Richa Ghosh and Ellyse Perry scored stunning half-centuries as RCB reached the target in 18.3 overs with six wickets to spare.
