Ahead of the much-awaited IPL 2024 auction, there’s a lot happening among the ten franchises as the news of player trades, releases have been emerging every other day. However, the biggest update of the last few days has been the appointment of Hardik Pandya as the captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) who’s replaced Rohit Sharma. Notably, Pandya made a return to MI after two years through a player trade with Gujarat Titans.

A few weeks after returning to his old franchise, he has replaced Sharma who led Mumbai to a record five IPL titles in his 11-year-long captaincy tenure. Meanwhile, a new report emerging in the cricketing fraternity states that Delhi Capitals approached MI to trade Rohit Sharma ahead of IPL 2024.

According to Sports Today, DC reportedly wanted a veteran player to captain their side in the upcoming season as their regular skipper Rishabh Pant will be playing as an Impact Player in the next edition. However, MI denied the offer as they rarely leave their players. They had to let go of all-rounder Cameron Green, who was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore in an all-cash deal of INR 17.50 crore, to have enough purse amount to bring Pandya back.
