Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Security ramped up at Arun Jaitley Stadium after blast in Delhi

Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Security ramped up at Arun Jaitley Stadium after blast in Delhi

Security has been beefed up around the Arun Jaitley Stadium after a high-intensity blast near the Red Fort. Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma announced the development in a statement ahead of the fourth day and final day of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy clash between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir, adding that he will contact the concerned individuals from Delhi Police to provide extra security.

“Security to be beefed up near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (renamed Arun Jaitley Stadium) on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. I would be getting in touch with the Delhi Police authorities and request them to deploy additional security outside the stadium premises,” Sharma was quoted as saying by India Today.

Speaking of the match, J&K won the fixture by seven wickets within the first session of the final day as they successfully chasing down 179. Qamran Iqbal (133* off 147) starred with a special century after being able to score only 14 in the previous innings.

Ayush Badoni (64 and 72) and Ayush Doseja (65 and 62) struck half-centuries in both innings. However, not many substantial contributions came from the other team members. Auqib Nabi (5/35 in 16 overs and 0/43 in 12 overs) secured the Player of the Match award for his contribution with the ball.

This was Delhi’s first loss in a campaign as they remain winless, having drawn their first three matches so far. Delhi’s next three games will be against Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mumbai. They will aim on finishing their campaign on a high after underwhelming outings. Delhi are currently placed sixth with seven points to their name.
