Rajasthan Royals organise special surprise for R Ashwin following milestone 500th Test wicket

Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently touched a major milestone as he completed 500 wickets in the longest format for the Indian team. The monumental achievement was celebrated across the country for the star spinner. It is worth noting that Ashwin reached the milestone during India’s recently concluded series against England.

With the end of the series, Ashwin is now gearing up for the 17th edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League), and the veteran all-rounder was welcomed in Jaipur in style.

In a clip posted by Rajasthan Royals on their social media handle, Ashwin was given a surprise by the franchise in his room for completing 500 Test wickets. In the clip, several RR players, like Shimron Hetmyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and many more congratulated him for achieving the feat. “To ouRR Ashwin from the Royals Family. With love, welcome home legend!” RR captioned the post.

RR aim to go for second IPL title

Speaking of Rajasthan Royals, the franchise has been underperforming in the marquee tournament for quite some time. After winning the IPL in 2008, Rajasthan have been unable to get their hands on the trophy ever since.

However, led by Sanju Samson, the side will hope that the same can change in 2024. Under his leadership, RR managed to reach the summit clash of the tournament in 2022 but ultimately fell short to Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans.

Furthermore, they failed to make it to the knockout stages in 2023, finishing in fifth place in the standings as they missed out on the playoff due to their low net run rate as Mumbai Indians made the cut.

As the IPL 2024 approaches, Rajasthan Royals will begin their campaign by taking on Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24 and the side will aim to get off to a good start and hopefully go all the way.
