PSL 2024: Mohammad Amir angrily reacts to ‘fixer’ chants, hurls abuses at a fan

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir was recently seen fuming at a section of fans for calling him a ‘fixer’. Notably, Amir is playing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 for Quetta Gladiators and registered figures of 1/30 on four overs during their fixture against Lahore Qalandars on Sunday, March 10 in Karachi.

However, after the game, the 31-year-old was seen getting involved in a heated argument with some fans in the crowd who called him a ‘fixer’. In a viral video, Amir can be seen walking past a stand in Karachi Stadium as fans with fans chanting his name. However, among them, was a person who called him ‘fixer’ which didn’t go down well with the cricketer as he came back to confront the guy. Later in the video, Amir was even seen hurling abuses at the fan.

“Fixer ke bachhe! Ghar se yahi seekh kea ate ho (Is this what your parents have taught you?),” Amir can be heard speaking in the viral video.

Notably, Amir was involved in teh spot fixing scandal during the Lord’s Test in England in 2010. The left-arm seamer intentionally bowled no-balls after receiving directives from his captain Salman Butt. As a result, he was banned for five years while other accused Butt and Mohhamad Asif were also sentenced to five years ban each.

In the ongoing edition of the PSL Amir hasn’t had a memorable season as he’s picked just six wickets from seven games at an average of 37.66 and an economy of 8.69. In Quetta’s last fixture, Amir got the prized scalp of Lahore’s captain Shaheen Afridi as he dismissed him for 55 (34) in the last over of the game to break the 91-run stand between him and Abdullah Shafique (59* off 39).

The left-arm seamer only gave six runs in the final over as Lahore finished their innings on 166/4 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Quetta got off to a good start with openers Jason Roy (18 off 14) and Saud Shakeel adding 39 runs for the first wicket. After losing his opening partner Roy, Shakeel continued to hold one end and brought his side to the verge of a win with his magnificent innings of 88* (65).

The game ended in a thrilling manner as Mohammad Wasim Jr smacked Afridi for a six with four runs needed off the last ball and helped his side win the game by six wickets. Courtesy of their win, they qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament.
