In the match between Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, veteran cricketers Iftikhar Ahmed and Jason Roy lost their calm and were seen engaging in a heated argument during the second innings of the match.

Notably, batting first, Multan Sultans posted 185 runs on the board. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan led by example and made 69 runs off 47 deliveries while Johnson Charles played a blistering knock of 53 runs off 29 deliveries. Iftikhar, towards the end, played a brilliant cameo of 20 runs off eight deliveries as courtesy of the same, Multan had the upper hand after the first innings.

It was in the third over of the second innings when Iftikhar and Roy lost their calm. The England international was talking to his opening partner Saud Shakeel about a possible LBW review as the on-field umpire gave him out. During which, Iftikhar sledged him as Roy marched towards the Pakistan international in the middle of the ground. Multan skipper Rizwan tried to take Roy out of the situation while the other players tried to calm down Iftikhar. Meanwhile, Roy had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring just three runs.

Multan defeated Quetta by 79 runs

Quetta couldn’t put up a show with the bat in the second innings of the match. Wickets fell like a pack of cards as six players scored in just single digits. Omair Yousuf was the only batter who seemed to get going but failed to convert his start as he got out after scoring 37 runs. On the other hand, David Willey and Usama Mir picked up three wickets each as Quetta were bundled out for 106 runs. Multan won the match comfortably and with that, they also finished the season as the league leaders.

Meanwhile, despite the defeat, Quetta managed to qualify for the playoffs. Up next, they are slated to face Islamabad United in the Eliminator while Multan will be hosting Peshawar Zalmi in Qualifier 1.
