Zaheer Khan feels that the role clarity given by the Gujarat Titans’ management to Prasidh Krishna has helped the right-arm pacer achieve surreal success. On Sunday, in Gujarat’s clash against the Lucknow Super Giants at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, Krishna bagged a four-for to move to the top of the Purple Cap standings.

Since last season, Krishna has picked up 35 wickets in 19 matches. In this season alone, he has 10 scalps from four games. Thanks to his heroics with the ball on Sunday, Gujarat restricted Lucknow to a below-par score of 164/8. The visiting side chased the target with seven wickets and eight balls to spare.

Zaheer praised Krishna for adapting to the unique role given to him by the Titans, where he is not bowling inside the power play but troubling the batters by hitting the hard lengths and mixing things from time to time with his variations through the middle overs and at the death.

“Well, in this format, you have seen, luck doesn’t work. It’s a tough format. But Prasidh is practicing good habits. He was Purple Cap holder last year. He is now the Purple Cap holder,” Zaheer said on Cricbuzz.

“Right now in this season, he has gone past Bishnoi today with 10 wickets, I think he has got. But it’s just the plans and the simplicity and the role clarity, which is given by Gujarat Titans. He has been used differently by the Gujarat Titans and he has adapted to that role and he is enjoying that role. He knows that, “Okay, I am not going to be bowling in the power play. I am going to come in the middle. But my role is to create opportunities by bowling these hard lengths, by bowling these variations and backing himself,” he added.

With this win, the Titans moved to No. 5 on the points table. On the other hand, Lucknow find themselves at No. 6. Both teams have two wins from as many games. However, the Titans have a better net run rate (NRR) of -0.029 compared to Lucknow’s -0.427.
