Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series against the Netherlands, which was scheduled for May 2024, has been postponed indefinitely due to a scheduling problem. The Netherlands Cricket Board (KNCB) was requested by the PCB to postpone the series amidst the pressure of an increasingly busy calendar. The side aimed to return to the Netherlands following their CWC Super League series in Rotterdam in 2022.

The three-match T20I affair was set to be played in early May next year, but Pakistan are set to travel to Ireland and England soon after playing New Zealand at home in April. The crunch scheduling meant there was little time for the team to fly for the series against the Dutch.

Speaking of the same, KNCB High Performance Manager Roland Lefebrve came forward to opine how disappointing the rescheduling was but stated that they understand the situation.

“We’re obviously disappointed but of course we understand the situation, and remain optimistic a new window will be found to play the series either at home or away,” Roland Lefebrve told Cricbuzz.

Pakistan look to recoup after poor World Cup campaign

Meanwhile, Pakistan put in a subpar performance in the recently concluded World Cup in India. Pakistan only managed to win four of their nine matches, finishing with eight points. The side missed out on the knockout stages of the tournament, finishing in fifth place, just below the fourth-placed New Zealand.

Before shifting focus to the shortest format, Pakistan will be take on Australia in a two-match Test series, scheduled to begin from December 14 in Perth. The side will be under a new leadership as Shan Masood will lead the Test squad after Babar Azam stepped down.

After their lacklustre World Cup campaign, Pakistan will be keen on putting in an improved performance against Australia, which could prove to be quite the challenge considering the form of the world champions.
