PAK vs SL 2025 Babar Azam equals Saeed Anwar’s tally for most ODI centuries for Pakistan

Babar Azam equalled Saeed Anwar’s ODI century tally by scoring an unbeaten century in the second ODI of the series against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on November 14. Babar finally broke his 807-day century-less streak in international cricket as the hosts secured an unassailable lead in the series with a game to go.

Babar reached to his 20th ODI ton in his 139th ODI. He took 108 fewer matches than Anwar to get to the feat. Babar’s 119-ball knock ensured that he earned the Player of the Match award in Pakistan’s convincing eight-wicket win.

Speaking of how the second ODI panned out, Pakistan elected to field first after winning the toss. Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed picked up three wickets apiece as the Lankans got to 288/8 in their quota of 50 overs. There were as many as six Sri Lankan batters that scored northwards of 20. However, only Janith Liyanage (54 off 63) was able to convert it into a half-century.

The Green Shirts started off solid with the bat. Saim Ayub was dismissed for his fourth 30-plus score (33 off 25) in his last five ODI innings. Fakhar Zaman’s wicket in the 31st over brought Mohammad Rizwan to the crease. The Babar-Rizwan duo remained in the middle till the very end to forge an unbeaten 112-run stand off 105 balls. Dushmantha Chameera picked both the wickets in the second innings.
