The second T20I between Pakistan and Australia in Lahore sparked immense controversy with Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq grabbing attention after Australian all-rounder Cameron Green appeared to accuse him of ‘chucking’ following his dismissal. However, a day later, Tariq replied to the gesture with a mocking Instagram story featuring a crying child.
Green, batting on 35 and looking like Australia’s hope in the chase, tried to take on Tariq with a big shot. Instead, he could only manage a leading edge that was safely caught at the point. As Green walked back to the pavilion, television saw him making a gesture that many interpreted as an allegation of chucking, pointing out that Tariq’s bowling action was illegal.

Taking to Instagram, the Pakistan spinner posted an image of a crying child with the caption “After getting out,” along with a laughing emoji. The post was seen as a direct jab at Green, mocking the Australian’s visible frustration after his dismissal.
Green was not the first to raise suspicions over Tariq’s action. The spinner has a distinctive run-up, with a noticeable pause before releasing the ball from a side-arm angle, which often gives the impression of a throw. He was reported for a suspected illegal action during the Pakistan Super League in both 2024 and 2025. On both occasions, Tariq underwent biomechanical testing at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and was cleared, with officials confirming his elbow extension was within the ICC’s 15-degree limit.
Tariq has previously defended himself, stating that his bent arm is a natural, biological trait rather than a flaw in technique. Meanwhile, in the game, Australia were bundled out for just 108 while chasing close to 200, handing Pakistan a comprehensive win and a 2–0 series lead.
