Former English cricketer Michael Vaughan and former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez have been indulging in quite a banter over social media in recent weeks. The incident originated after Hafeez criticized ace Indian batter Virat Kohli for playing selfishly and prioritizing his centuries ahead of the team’s success.

As Ben Stokes scored a masterful ton against the Netherlands recently in the ODI World Cup 2023, Hafeez pointed out on Twitter the difference between a selfish and selfless approach in the sport. However, Vaughan was quick to post a reply, trolling Hafeez for the same.

Posting a clip on ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, Vaughan posted a clip of Virat Kohli dismissing Hafeez and wished him a good morning in the post. “Morning @MHafeez22 Have a great day,” Vaughan captioned the tweet.

Talk sense to a fool, and he calls u foolish: Hafeez

Furthermore, Mohammad Hafeez had a stern reply to Vaughan’s series of tweets as well. Seeing the former England batter’s tweets, Hafeez came forward to take an indirect jibe and posted, “Talk sense to a fool and he calls u foolish.”

The latest fiasco began with the marvellous innings of veteran English all-rounder Ben Stokes against the Netherlands at the ODI World Cup 2023. Reflecting on his ton, Hafeez wrote, “Saviour of the ship @benstokes38, Good 100, under pressure anchoring the innings where required with aggressive intent to get Maximum runs for the team to win at the end. Sheer example to differentiate Selfish vs Selfless approach @MichaelVaughan.”

Great innings from Stokesy @MHafeez22 .. As was Virats on a difficult pitch in Kolkata against a better attack .. 👍 https://t.co/KFpNIafgVK

Replying to this, Vaughan equally applauded Kohli’s innings and later posted the video of Kohli dismissing Hafeez in a 2012 game between India and Pakistan. In the game, Hafeez went down after scoring 15 off 28 which was highlighted well by Vaughan in his post. Hafeez’s comments originated after ace Indian batter Virat Kohli put in a sensational performance for team India in their recent game against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Hitting his 49th ODI ton on his 35th birthday, Kohli equaled the record of India great Sachin Tendulkar, and the discussion of the 35-year-old playing selfishly in the tournament and not prioritizing the team’s success has been thrown around by the pundits quite often.
