‘Not true’ – Virat Kohli denies reported social media earnings

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was recently named one of Instagram’s top-earners in India. In a recent report, it was revealed that the 34-year-old earned a sum of INR 11.45 crore per sponsored post on the social media app, which made him one of the highest earners through Instagram in the world as well.

As per the list that was released, it was reported that Kohli was the only Indian to have made it in the top 20 globally, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Selena Gomez featured in the rankings as well.

As the list left many jaw dropped, it was all debased after a recent tweet by Virat Kohli. The 34-year-old opined that the news that has been circulating around his social media earnings is “not true”.

“While I am grateful and indebted to all that I’ve received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true,” Kohli posted on August 12.

Virat Kohli to return at Asia Cup 2023

Kohli is currently not featuring for team India in the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies. India finds themselves with one win and two losses in the three games that have been played so far. Led by Hardik Pandya, the visitors will be keen on putting in good performances for the remaining games of the series in the hopes of clawing their way back.

After the series, the side will shift their focus to the Ireland series and the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. Being held in the 50-over format, the marquee event is all set to begin on August 30. With the ODI World Cup 2023 around the corner, India will be keen on putting in a good performance in the Asia Cup and with the return of star players like Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah in the squad, India will be going in as favourites.
