Netflix has officially revealed the trailer for its most-anticipated documentary series, ‘The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan’. Set to premiere on February 7, 2025, the series takes an in-depth look at one of cricket’s most passionate and historic rivalries.

Featuring some of the sport’s most iconic figures, including Virender Sehwag, Shoaib Akhtar, Sourav Ganguly, and Sunil Gavaskar, the documentary is expected to be full of emotions, history, and legendary moments of India-Pakistan clashes on the cricket field.

The India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is more than just a game, it carries deep historical and political factors attached to it. Since the two nations last played a bilateral series in 2012-13, their clashes have been limited to ICC tournaments and multi-nation events, making each encounter even more iconic. The 2-minute 13-second promo video features legendary cricketers from both sides sharing their perspectives on the clashes.

“An India-Pakistan match is not just a match between bat and ball. It’s much bigger than that,” Virender Sehwag says in the video.

“There are 1,00,000 people waiting inside. And another 1,00,000 waiting outside,” the former legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar added.

It was a so-called Friendship Tour: Sourav Ganguly

Former India Captain Sourav Ganguly reflected on the so-called “Friendship Tour” between the two nations, questioning the concept of ‘friendship’ when facing Shoaib Akhtar’s fiery deliveries at 150 km/h.

“It was a Friendship Tour only in name but Shoabh Akhtar is going to bowl at 150 kilometers an hour, where is the friendship in that,” he said.

Notably, the series is directed by Chandradev Bhagat and Stewart Sugg and is produced by Grey Matter Entertainment Production. Meanwhile, the two teams will next meet each other in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, on February 23, in Dubai.
