Hardik Pandya praised Nehal Wadhera after his knock against LSG in the IPL 2024. The MI skipper felt that Wadhera has been fantastic as a batter for MI so far and added that he batted well against RR and LSG.

The star player said that the youngster could not find a place in the XI in the early part of the tournament due to the team combination. However, he has played his role well after getting the opportunity.

“He has been fantastic, the way he batted against Rajasthan and tonight. He did fantastic last year as well. It was because of the team combination that he could not play early,” said Hardik in the post-match talk. The MI player felt that Wadhera has everything it takes to play for India and be a regular for Mumbai Indians in the next few seasons.

“Looking at his talent, he will play for a lot of years for Mumbai and for India eventually,” added Hardik in his statement. Nehal has been batting well right from his debut. In 2023, he was one of the most promising talents of the season. In the absence of some key players, the Southpaw stepped up and played a pivotal role as a batter for the five-time champions.

Nehal Wadhera’s IPL journey so far

Along with Tilak Varma, the young batter helped MI to be the best batting unit of the season despite being a debutant. In 14 matches for the side, the youngster scored 241 runs and played handy cameos lower down the order. At a young age, he showed maturity and quick adaptation in different positions as a batter in IPL.

As mentioned by Pandya in the post-match talk, Wadhera could not make it to the side in the first few games due to the team combination. However, when he got a chance to play, Wadhera has made the most of it so far. On his return to the XI, Wadhera scored 49(24) against RR. In the most recent game against LSG, the emerging batter scored 46(41) and saved MI from a potential collapse.
